Advantech Corporation, or Advantech Co., Ltd (TPE: 2395), is a Taiwanese company with direct operations in 23 different countries and employs over 5,000 employees. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, it is a manufacturer of industrial PC, embedded single board computers, and automation controllers & software. Their industrial PC products include Rackmount computers (used for industrial control, ISPs, machine vision, telephony, plant automation, data acquisition applications, and networking purpose) and wall mount computers (which are designed for installation in machineries or for mounting on walls). Their embedded single board computers include the 3.5 Embedded Board and the 5.25 Embedded Board. Their automation controllers & software include IO Modules and Softlogic Software. They also provide a large variety of products that range from Human Machine Interface (HMI), Vehicle PC Solutions, Chassis, Ethernet Networking, PICMG Backplanes, Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs), and software.
Advantech Co., Ltd distributes its products to overseas markets in Asia, Europe and the Americas, and the domestic market. In 2007, the company obtained 17%, 21%, 22%, and 40% of its revenue from applied computing platforms, industrial control systems, embedded cards, and industrial PCs, respectively. History

1980s

Advantech Co., Ltd was founded by 3 former Hewlett-Packard Engineers in 1983. The company started with the System Integration Business of IEEE-488 ATS (also known as Automatic Test System). Advantech's first exported product was the PCL 748 IEEE-488 Card. Advantech also successfully launched the PC-Lab Card Series Industrial I/O Cards. Their Global Branch Office in San Jose, California was opened in 1987.[3]

1990s

The company created the IPC-600, their first industrial PC, in 1990. In 1992, the company launched the ADAM Series (Remote Data Acquisition & Control Modules).
In 1999, Advantech Co., Ltd went IPO on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Their Global Branch Office in Beijing, China was opened in 1992.
Their Global Branch Offices in Düsseldorf, Germany and Milan, Italy were opened in 1993.
