Adela Demetja
Adela Demetja (* 1984 in Tirana) is an independent curator from Albania. Since 2010 she is the art director of Tirana Art Lab – Centre for Contemporary Art. Previously she has been working as Art Production Manager. Demetja graduated with a Masters in Curatorial and Critical Studies from Städelschule and Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. As one of the founders of Tirana Art Lab – Centre for Contemporary Art she has curated various contemporary art exhibitions in different venues around Tirana. Since 2014 Tirana Art Lab operates from a multifunctional exhibition space located in the centre of Tirana. The space also hosts an open library of English, Albanian and Italian reference books, artists’ catalogues, publications on art theorie and criticism, as well as a selelction of international art magazines. The access to the library is open to the public. Demetja is also trained as a painter and has studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Arts in Tirana in Tirana and at the College of Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. Demetja lives and works between Tirana and Frankfurt am Main.
Activity
- 2007–2008 - As a fellow of the Robert Bosch Foundation in the "Culture Manager from Central and Eastern Europe" in Demetja worked as a guest curator at the Lothringer 13 - Städtische Kunsthalle München. Adele Demetja curated a number of international exhibitions and events in different European countries.
