Adam Nemec (born 2 September 1985) is a Slovak football striker who currently plays for New York City FC of Major League Soccer.
Club career
MŠK Žilina
When playing for MSK Žilina, Nemec became Slovakian champion in 2007 and in the process of it, scored 14 goals. in three seasons at the club Nemec scored 25 goals in 74 league matches.
Erzgebirge Aue
In August 2007, he signed a deal with Erzgebirge Aue where he scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 29 games.[2]
KRC Genk
On 11 June 2008, Nemec signed a four-year deal with Belgian club KRC Genk. He remained at the club for only one season in which he scored 4 goals in 21 matches.
1. FC Kaiserslautern
In July 2009, he was involved in talks over a move to Scottish Premier League club Heart of Midlothian which ultimately failed.[3] On 28 July 2009, Nemec signed a three-year contract for 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
After falling from a cherry tree in his garden in June 2011, Nemec suffered injuries including broken ribs and collarbone expected to keep him out of football for at least three months.[4] He returned to training in early September.[5] At the end of the season he left the club after having appeared in 61 league matches and scoring 9 goals in his two seasons.
FC Ingolstadt
On 27 January 2012, Nemec joined FC Ingolstadt until the end of the season.[6]
Union Berlin
On 24 July 2012, he signed a two-year contract with Union Berlin until June 2014.[7] In December 2013, after good performances, his contract was extended for another two years until 2016 including a mutual extension clause for another year.[8] Only four months later though, in April 2014, he was allowed to leave the club effective the end of the 2013–14 season,[9] however he stayed with Union.
New York City FC
On 25 January 2015, after Nemec's contract with Union Berlin was dissolved by mutual agreement, he signed for Major League Soccer club New York City FC.[10]
International career
Nemec is also a current member of the Slovakia national football team.
