Early life

Adam Brian Thomas Hann attended Wilmslow High School, along with his band mates, Matthew Healy, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel. After playing together for 10 years,[1] their band The 1975 reached international success.

Career

In 2001, Hann met his would-be bandmates—guitarist and keyboardist Matty Healy, drummer and backing vocalist George Daniel, and bassist and backing vocalist Ross MacDonald—at Wilmslow High School in Manchester. Healy has stated that a "hippy council worker" was putting on gigs for teenagers in Manchester and Hann approached him and MacDonald about forming a band. They started off with punk-rock and pop covers, until they wrote a song. Healy was originally the drummer for the band. However, the lead singer left to join another band, so he took over the position of lead vocalist. George Daniel was then recruited as the drummer, which completed the current lineup.[2] The group kept going from then, performing under names like Drive Like I Do, TALKHOUSE!, The Slowdown, and Bigsleep, until they settled with the name The 1975. A common question asked in interviews is where the band came up with their name. Healy was given a book at the age of 19 which was previously used as a diary. One of the dates written within the book was 1 June The 1975. He said the use of 'the' was very interesting and the name stuck with him. At first he did not see it as the name of his band but when they were trying to think of a new one he remembered that "and it was just perfect."as he tattooed it on his arm so he said they had to go with it [3] The 1975 have gone on to be hugely successful, attaining a platinum record in September 2014.[4]
