Adam Clydsdale (born 13 February 1993) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Newcastle Knights of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays hooker.
Background
Born in Scone, New South Wales, Clydsdale played his junior football for the Scone Thoroughbreds before being signed by the Newcastle Knights. As a youngster, Clydsdale played for the New South Wales Under 16s team. In 2009, Clydsdale won the Knights' Harold Matthews Cup Player of the Year award.[1] In 2011, Clydsdale played in the Knights' 2011 S. G. Ball Cup Grand Final win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs,[2] winning the Knights' SG Ball Player of the Year award and SG Ball Player's Player award.[3] Clydsdale played for the Knights' NYC team in 2012 and 2013,[4] captaining the side in 2013. At the end of 2012, Clydsdale won the Knights' NYC Player of the Year award and NYC Player's Player award.[5]In December 2012, Clydsdale attended the Blues Pathways camp for future New South Wales State of Origin representatives.[6]
Newcastle Knights 2013-
2013
In Round 9 of the 2013 NRL season, Clydsdale made his NRL debut for the Knights against the Canberra Raiders.[7][8] On 10 May 2013, Clydsdale re-signed with the Knights on a 3-year contract after rejecting an offer from the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.[9][10] Clydsdale played 2 matches for the Knights in the 2013 NRL season playing majority of the year in the NYC.
2014
In 14 February 2014, Clydsdale was selected in the Newcastle Knights inaugural 2014 Auckland Nines squad.[11] In Round 6 against the Canberra Raiders, Clydsdale scored his first NRL career try in the Knights 26-12 win at Canberra Stadium.[12] Clydsdale finished the Knights 2014 NRL season with him playing in 21 matches and scoring 2 tries (8p).
Personal life
Clydsdale is the grandson of Australian international Don "Bandy" Adams.[13]
