Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) is an educational accreditation agency recognised by the British Government's Home Office[1][2] and approved by Ofsted, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.[3][4] and member by National Academic Recognition Information Centre UK NARIC . It was established to improve the quality and safeguard standards for independent colleges and universities in UK and worldwide. ASIC has closed nearly 20 bogus registered colleges and universities in the UK.
History
ASIC registered on 3 January 2007, ASIC is a nonprofit independent accreditation agency based in the United Kingdom. It is one of the accreditation bodies since 2007 recognized by the United Kingdom Government the UK Border Agency,[5][6] ASIC is one of seven government-approved accreditation bodies in UK permitting educational institutions with ASIC accreditation to sponsor Tier 4 immigrants to study in the UK.[7][8]
- In 2009 the British Government awarded ASIC a role in the Government's attempt to shut down hundreds of bogus colleges/universities in UK.
- In 2013 the British Embassy Bangkok was supporting ASIC on university accreditation in Thailand
- Today, ASIC is accrediting around 260 Colleges and Universities in UK and around 80 worldwide.

ASIC adheres to the ISO 9001:2008 management system and they received ISO Certification in 2013.[9] ASIC states that its accreditation of international educational establishments "neither confers nor validates degree-awarding powers" and cautions prospective students to confirm that the awards granted by the educational institution have the level of recognition sufficient for their purposes.[10]
