Acanthocobitis is a genus of ray-finned fish in the Nemacheilidae family.

There are currently nine recognized species in this genus:[1]

Occurrence

The genus is known to parts of south Asia, where the species within this genus chiefly occur as high trophic level freshwater demersal taxa. For example, A. botia (mottled loach) is one of the native demersal fishes of the Indus River.(C.Michael Hogan. 2012)
