The Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI) is an academic organisation, registered as a non-profit organization in India to promote family medicine and primary healthcare.[1]
Scope and objectives
AFPI aims to improve health status of communities in India by building up an environment of change and reform by promoting education/training of skilled primary care physicians and their integration with the health care delivery system. For this purpose AFPI has focused on quality education, advocacy, practice standardization and promotion, and shouldering public health responsibilities.
Journal
The academy publishes the peer-reviewed medical journal, Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, established in January 2012. The journal is indexed in PubMed Central/PubMed[2] and follows a gold open access model.[3]
