Aaron Yan (traditional Chinese: 炎亞綸; simplified Chinese: 炎亚纶; pinyin: Yán Yǎlún), born Aaron Wu Keng-Lin (traditional Chinese: 吳庚霖; simplified Chinese: 吴庚霖; pinyin: Wú Gēnglín; born November 20, 1986[1]) in Taiwan, is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer, commercial model and actor. He is the youngest member of Taiwanese Mandopop vocal quartet boy band Fahrenheit.
He can speak and understand Mandarin, Korean, Taiwanese Hokkien, English and limited Japanese and Cantonese. He was a sophomore at Chinese Culture University, majoring in Journalism and News Broadcasting. However, because his career had greatly affected his academics and learning environment, he transferred to Jinwen University of Science and Technology, majoring in English. In October 2010, Aaron announced that he had quit schooling to focus on his career instead. Having injured his knee previously, Aaron is also exempted from serving in the national army.
Early life
At a young age, his family moved to Connecticut,[2] U.S., where he stayed for his primary school education for about five years. He then moved back to Taiwan for further education.
Around early 2005, Comic producers had been searching for elite bloggers around the web. They discovered Yan, who, at that time, was really popular online, and thus recommended him to audition for a role in a drama. Yan thought it was a fraud at first, but after several tests, he realized that it was true. He was given a small role in I Love My Wife (An Shi Ai Mei Hui, 安室愛美惠).
Career
Music Career
As part of Fahrenheit, Yan has released four Mandopop studio albums, three Japanese singles and one live concert DVD. Yan held his first solo concert on 20 November 2010 at The Wall Live House in Taipei, to celebrate his 25th birthday. The tickets were sold out in 18 minutes right after it is open for sale. Proceeds from the ticket sale were for charity purposes.
Yan's first solo EP, The Next Me (Chinese: 下一個炎亞綸; literally: "The Next Aaron Yan") was released on 25 March 2011 by HIM International Music. It was available for pre-order from 11 March 2011, in it includes six tracks, on which one is a duet with Singaporean singer Olivia Ong, as well as a piano solo piece performed by Yan himself. On 4 March 2011, a 30-seconds preview of the title track, "The Next Me" (Chinese: 下一個我) was released online by HIM International Music.[3] On 15 June 2011, Yan released the Japanese Edition of his solo EP "The Next Me" (Chinese: 下一個我) which includes a Japanese bonus track ["The Next Me" (Chinese: 下一個我) Japanese Version].
Yan's solo concert was held on 11 June 2011 at the National Taiwan University Sports Center as a celebration for his success in his first solo EP, The Next Me. Yan held another solo concert that was held on 21 June 2011 in Beijing. On 31 July 2011, Yan held a solo concert at Yun Feng Theatre, Shanghai.
Yan's first solo album, "The Moment" 「紀念日」was released on 19 October 2012 by HIM International Music. It includes 10 tracks and 2 which Yan wrote by himself.
Acting Career
Yan was originally signed to star in Rolling Love along with bandmate Jiro Wang, but he took the lead role in another drama, Mysterious Incredible Terminator, when the opportunity arose. Yan starred with his bandmates in KO One, The X-Family, and their cameo appearance in K.O.3an Guo. He also starred in It Started With A Kiss and They Kiss Again as Ah Bu, along with his bandmate Jiro Wang.
After filming Mysterious Incredible Terminator, Yan and his co-star Gui Gui signed a contract to do another drama together called Momo Love based on Japan's best selling manga Momoka Typhoon. Filming for this drama has begun but was cancelled when Yan had another opportunity to star in Love Buffet. He wanted to do both dramas, but the company only wanted him to do one. The company picked Love Buffet. Yan starred in a 2012 drama production titled Alice in Wonder City, together with Lara Veronin, which he described as "more suitable for adults". More recently it has been announced that Yan will co-star with Korea actress Kim So-eun in an upcoming Chinese-Korean romance film film. The film is currently scheduled to be released sometime in November 2015.[4][5]
