A Region D

Region D was one of the four A regions of the Virginia High School League before its change to a six class system starting with the 2013–14 academic year. It was made up of four districts: the A Black Diamond District, the A Clinch Mountain District, the A Cumberland District, and the A Lonesome Pine District. The region was located in the far western part of Southwest Virginia, west of Region C's location.

As was the case with Region IV, the region was the smallest in Group A, due to high schools consolidating. Several schools were transferred from the southern part of the Region C to help balance the numbers. In addition, to make advancing to regional playoffs fairer, an additional district was created, the Clinch Mountain District.
