ARC Resources Ltd. is a conventional oil and natural gas company headquartered in Calgary, Canada.[2] ARC is currently engaged in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba [3] Formed in 1996, ARC has grown production from 9,500 boe/day to over 105,000 boe/day in 2014.[4] ARC is a member of the S&P/TSX 60 Index, and its common shares are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol ARX.

History

ARC was founded in 1996 as a royalty trust with the acquisition of 21 properties from Mobil Oil Canada. The acquisition was funded by an initial IPO of $180 million on the Toronto Stock Exchange.[5] The company operated as a royalty trust from inception in 1996 until December 31, 2010. As a result of the Canadian Government's change in the tax treatment of trusts ARC converted from a trust to a corporation on January 1, 2011.

Operations

With operations spanning western Canada, ARC’s activities include the exploration, development and production of conventional oil and natural gas reserves. ARC targets high quality assets, typically characterized by their long-life and opportunity rich nature. Currently, ARC’s production split is approximately 40 percent oil and liquids and 60 percent natural gas.[6] A leader in the application of new technologies, ARC has charted new ground in the development of resource plays, while maintaining focus on creating value through optimization and cost control of mature reserves. This focus on results and value creation underpins every aspect of ARC’s operations. With a diverse and rich land base ARC is uniquely positioned for continued organic growth.
