With operations and investments in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Asia, AGF has a track record of delivering products and services to more than one million investors. AGF provides investment management and financial solutions to retail, institutional and high-net-worth clients.
AGF offers a diversified family of mutual funds, mutual fund wrap programs and pooled funds. AGF also manages assets on behalf of institutional investors, including pension plans, foundations and endowments as well as for private clients. AGF trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange.[1] under the symbol AGF.B.
History
AGF was founded in 1957 by C. Warren Goldring (1927 - 2009)[2] Bruce Sutherland and Allan Manford. They pooled the funds of Canadian investors giving them greater access to the U.S. market through the New York Stock Exchange with the launch of the American Growth Fund. The co-founders used the initials from the first fund to name the company.
Today, AGF is one of the independent Canadian investment management firms with offices in Toronto and Montréal. In addition to offices across Canada, AGF has international operations in Boston, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing.
On June 6, 2012, B2B Trust, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank (TSX: LB), and AGF Management Limited (TSX: AGF.B), announced that they have entered into an agreement under which B2B Trust will acquire 100% of AGF Trust Company ("AGF Trust") in a share purchase transaction.
After receiving all regulatory authorizations and approvals on August 1, 2012, AGF announced it had completed the closing of the sale of AGF Trust to B2B.
