A. Lee Martinez is an American fantasy and science fiction author. He has been a member of the DFW Writers' Workshop since 1995. He currently resides in Terrell, Texas.

Biography

A. Lee Martinez was born in El Paso, Texas on January 12, 1973. In 1991, he graduated from Gadsden High School in Anthony, New Mexico, northwest of El Paso, just across the state line. He has written seven published fantasy novels. His books have been translated into five languages.

Martinez’s first published novel, Gil's All Fright Diner (2005), was awarded a 2006 Alex Award,[1] an award given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18. Gil's also had a featured review in Publishers Weekly. His fourth novel, The Automatic Detective, also received a featured review in Publishers Weekly.

A. Lee Martinez's other fantasy novels are In the Company of Ogres (2006) and A Nameless Witch (2007). Both are stand-alone books.

Martinez released a three-part short story after the release of Gil’s All Fright Diner titled "Cranky Dead".[2] The short story is based in the town of Rockwood where Gil’s All Fright Diner took place. Registration to the A. Lee Martinez forum is required to access the short story.
