7th Scripps National Spelling Bee
The 7th Scripps National Spelling Bee was held in Washington, D.C. on May 27, 1931. Scripps Howard would not sponsor the Bee until 1941.
The winner was Ward Randall of Illinois, correctly spelling the word foulard. Charles Michel of Ohio took second, followed by Mary Scheidler of Indiana in third.[1][2]
