King Charlemagne crosses the Elbe River with a Frankish-Saxon army into Obotrite territory. He submits the Wiltzes and reaches the Baltic.
King Pepin of Italy conquers Istria on the Adriatic, ignoring Byzantine protests. He establishes a tributary march and sends missionaries.
