6376 Schamp (1987 KD1) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on May 29, 1987 by Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory.
The asteroid was named after Americans stationed in Alice Springs, Larry and Becky Schamp, who cared for members of the Shoemaker family after an automobile accident in which Eugene Shoemaker died.[1]
