606th Special Operations Squadron

The 606th Special Forces Squadron (Formerly 606th Air Commando Squadron) was an Air Commando Squadron of the United States Air Force They flew C-123 Provider aircraft over the Ho Chi Minh trail at night during the Vietnam War to monitor the movement of people and equipment on the trail. After marking their targets, they called in fighter planes with illuminating flares to circle around the targets. Their main area of operations was Laos.

Organization

The 606th Special Forces Squadron was composed of two sections, the C-123 Provider section which was under the callsign of Candlesticks, and the U-10 Helio Courier section which was under the callsign of Loudmouth and Litterbugs (and Clown for Civil Action missions).T-28D-5's call sign Zorro's also flew with the 606th sos.
