The 36th Rescue Flight (36 RQF) at Fairchild AFB Washington is part of the 58th Operations Group, 58th Special Operations Wing since 2012. It was formerly part of the 336th Training Group at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. It operates UH-1N Iroquois Twin Huey aircraft conducting search and rescue missions in support of the US Air Force Survival School in Washington state.

History

The 36th flew combat rescue missions in the Korean War from, November 1952-July 1953. It conducted search, rescue, and recovery missions in Japan and the waters around Japan from, 1952–1960 and 1961-1972. Since May 1993 the squadron has operated helicopters for survival training.[1]

The 36th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron Flew combat rescue missions in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand) 1966-end of hostilities primarily "Crown" rescue coordination and command missions. The unit received Presidential Unit Citation for its participation on combat operations in theater.
