3040 Kozai[3] (1979 BA) is a Mars-crossing asteroid discovered on January 23, 1979 by W. Liller at Cerro Tololo.
With an absolute magnitude of 13.7,[1] the asteroid is about 5–11 km in diameter.[2] The asteroid will pass 0.034 AU (5,100,000 km; 3,200,000 mi) from Mars on 2044-Jan-10 and 0.023 AU (3,400,000 km; 2,100,000 mi) from Mars on 2188-Nov-07.[1]
