2228 Soyuz-Apollo

2228 Soyuz-Apollo is a main belt asteroid with an orbital period of 2026.0941795 days (5.55 years).[1]

The asteroid (a minor planet) was discovered on July 19, 1977, and was named after the Apollo-Soyuz space program, carried on in 1975.[2] The reversal of the names was not political, but to prevent confusion with the asteroid 1862 Apollo.
