The 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will be the ninth edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, governed by FIFA. Previous editions before 2005 were not governed by FIFA and were held under the title Beach Soccer World Championships. Overall this will be the 19th edition of the World Cup since its establishment in 1995. The host country of the tournament is yet to be confirmed; FIFA opened the bidding process in April 2013. This will be the fourth tournament to take place under the two year basis; now the World Cup takes place once every two years, after taking place on a yearly basis between 1995 and 2009.
On 19 December 2014, the FIFA Executive Committee appointed the Bahamas as hosts.[1]
Bids
First bidding
On April 17, 2013, FIFA announced that bidding had begun for five competitions between 2016 and 2017, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. Declarations of interest must be made by May 15 whilst the hosts were to be revealed in December 2013.[2] However, no hosts were announced by 2013.

Official bids
The following 11 countries have made an official bid for the World Cup, as revealed by FIFA on May 28, 2013.[4]
Other rumoured bids
The following countries indicated that they may make bids for the World Cup, however when the bidding countries were revealed, the following were not included.
- Russia - Suggested that they may opt to bid for the 2017 World Cup if their 2015 bid fails.[6]
- United States - The US Soccer Federation hinted at a possible bid for one of the FIFA tournaments for which bidding had been made available, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.[7]
Second bidding
On 6 March 2014, FIFA again announced that bidding had begun for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. Member associations interested in hosting must submit a declaration of interest by 15 April 2014, and provide the complete set of bidding documents by 1 October 2014.[8] The FIFA Executive Committee selected the hosts in December 2014.

Qualification
Qualifying rounds will take place in 2016 and 2017. The Bahamas qualified automatically as hosts.
