The 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship will be the 15th edition of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship (65th edition if the Under-18 and Junior eras are included), the annual European youth football competition contested by the men's under-19 national teams of the member associations of UEFA. Germany will host the tournament.[1] Players born on or after 1 January 1997 will be eligible to participate in this competition.
The final tournament also acts as the UEFA qualifier for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, with six teams qualifying (the four semi-finalists and the two third-placed teams in the group stage).
Qualification
All 54 UEFA nations entered the competition, and with the hosts Germany qualifying automatically, the other 53 teams will compete in the qualifying competition to determine the remaining seven spots in the final tournament.[2] The qualifying competition consists of two rounds: Qualifying round, which takes place in autumn 2015, and Elite round, which takes place in spring 2016.
