The 2016 Rose Bowl will be a college football bowl game that will be played on January 1, 2016 at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California.[2] This 102nd Rose Bowl Game matches the Big Ten Conference Champions against the Pac-12 Conference Champions. It will be one of the 2015–16 bowl games that conclude the 2015 FBS football season.

The contest will be televised on ESPN with a radio broadcast on ESPN Radio and XM Satellite Radio, which will begin at 1:30 PM (PST) with kickoff at 2:10 PM (PST). The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association is the organizer of the game. The Northwestern Mutual financial services organization is the game sponsor.

The Rose Bowl Game, is a contractual sell-out, with 64,500 tickets allocated to the participating teams and conferences. The remaining tickets are distributed to the Tournament of Roses members, sponsors, City of Pasadena residents, and the general public. Tickets prices will be determined in August.

Pre-game activities

The game will be presided over by the 2016 Rose Queen, the Royal Court, Tournament of Roses President Mike Matthiessen, and the Grand Marshal. The theme of the parade and game is "Find Your Adventure".[3]

After the teams' arrival in Southern California, the teams will participate in the traditional Lawry's Beef Bowl in Beverly Hills and the Disney Media Day at Disneyland in nearby Anaheim. The Rose Bowl Hall of Fame ceremony luncheon will be held prior to the game at the Pasadena Convention Center, where outstanding former players and participants will be inducted into the hall.

The bands and cheerleaders from both schools will participate in the pre-game Rose Parade on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California along with the floats.

Teams

Teams playing in the Rose Bowl game are usually the winners of the Pacific-12 and Big Ten conference championship games, unless one team (or both teams) play in the College Football Playoff games. The teams will be officially selected by the football committee of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association on Selection Sunday on December 5, 2015.
