The 17th edition of Paralimpiad Malaysia, a.k.a. Malaysia Para Games was held in Kangar, Kuala Perlis, Arau and some other places in Perlis where 2014 Sukma Games was last held. This edition was the best edition held by a state. It was said by Minister of Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Khairy Jamaluddin. The next edition will be held in Sarawak.
Prelude
This Games is the third games since Malaysia Para Games introduce the hosting system similar to modern day Paralympics, where host of the Sukma Games will host the Malaysia Para Games since 2010. It begins with Malacca, followed by Pahang in 2012. Perlis is the host of the 17th Malaysia Para Games.[1]
Since 1986, all states of Malaysia has hosted the Sukma Games except for Kelantan. Prior to the 2014 games, Perlis has yet to host any Sukma Games.[2] This is the first time the state held the multi-sport event.

The Venue are places where each respective sporting event was held. The venue for the 2014 Sukma Games events are as below. Only 9 sports are introduced for the 2014 games.

Mascot
Lion is the icon and identity of Perlis and is known as the Northern Lion. Like the 2014 Sukma Games, the mascot name is "Singa Utara". Despite the lion does not exist in the state, but the lion is held up as the main logo because it represents the characteristics and soul of the Perlisans like the lion namely: courage, fast, competency, friendly, smart and caring. The mascot's head coincidentally similar to the shape of the state coats of arms of Perlis.
The Logo
The logo consists of four colours. Yellow represents loyalty to king and country, Blue represents unity and harmony in sports, Red represents the fighting spirit, insistence and the bravery in facing challenges while White represents solemnity, pure soul and sincerity. The symbol of the lion itself is the state symbol of Perlis as depicted in the coats of arms of Perlis.
