Rankings from AP Poll

The 2013-14 Michigan State Spartans represented Michigan State University in the 2013–14 college basketball season. The Spartans, led by nineteenth year head coach Tom Izzo, played their home games at the Breslin Center and were members of the Big Ten Conference. MSU started the preseason ranked #2 overall[1] and after beating #1 Kentucky in their second game[2] went on to hold the #1 spot for 3 weeks. After struggling with injuries to multiple players throughout the season, the Spartans, finally healthy and at full strength, won 3 consecutive games to capture the 2014 Big Ten Tournament Championship.[3] Michigan State earned a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament's East Region.
