The 2013–14 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represented Iowa State University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were led by fourth-year head coach Fred Hoiberg. The team played its home games at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa, and competed in the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 28–8, 11–7 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for third place. They were champions of the Big 12 Tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In the NCAA Tournament, they defeated North Carolina Central and North Carolina to advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they lost to Connecticut.

Coach Fred Hoiberg also received commitments from junior college transfers Dustin Hogue (Indian Hills Community College), K.J. Bluford (Northeast Community College), Richard Amardi (Indian Hills Community College), and Daniel Edozie (Tyler Junior College) along with Deandre Kane from Marshall.

Season

Preseason

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg announced the team's full schedule on August 8, 2013.[1] The Cyclones' schedule included seven teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, including defending runner-up Michigan. Iowa State scheduled to play against Auburn in the inaugural Big 12/SEC Challenge, as well as participating in the Diamond Head Classic. The Cyclones also scheduled their annual rivalry games against Northern Iowa and Iowa. Iowa State's conference schedule included one home game and one away game against each of the other nine members of the Big 12 Conference.[1]
