The 2012 James Madison Dukes men's soccer team will be the 43rd season of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia fielding a men's varsity college soccer program. The team will play in the Colonial Athletic Association of the NCAA Division I.

Background

The Dukes are coming off one of the program's most impressive campaigns in history, earning their first CAA Regular Season title since 2000 and earning their first berth into the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship for the first time since 2005. In last year's CAA Men's Soccer Tournament, the Dukes were eliminated in a penalty shoot-out by the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens, who would go on to defeat the Old Dominion Monarchs in the CAA Championship.

Despite failing to win the conference tournament, the Dukes earned an at large-bid into the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament where they were seeded 14th in the field of 48 teams. Earning a second round bye, the Dukes defeated the Wake Forest Demons Deacons 2–0 in the second round, pitting them against the third-seeded Connecticut Huskies in the third round proper. The Huskies would defeat the Dukes 3–0 in the match, thus ending the Dukes' season.[1]
