The 2012–13 season was the 127th season of competitive football played by Hyde F.C., an English football club based in Hyde, Greater Manchester. Their title-win in the 2011–12 season meant this was the first season in the club's history in the Conference National. The season covered the period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013.

Gary Lowe resigned as manager, being replaced by Scott McNiven before the start of the season. McNiven signed eleven players in the opening transfer window; these included Phil Jevons, Alex Brown, Grant Spencer, Stefan Cox, Luke Ashworth, Kelvin Lomax, Robbie Williams, Daniel Douglas-Pringle, David McNiven and Matthew Blinkhorn. Hyde had an inconsistent season, losing five matches in a row on two occasions in the season, while also going on a five match winning run; eventually finishing the season in 18th place.

Hyde's first fixture of the season was an away game at Braintree Town. Hyde were knocked out of the FA Cup by Harrogate Town in the fourth qualifying round. They were knocked out of the FA Trophy in the first round by Barrow. Phil Jevons ended the season as the club's top goalscorer with 16 goals, while Luke Ashworth was named as the supporters 'player of the year.

Background

The 2011–12 season was a successful season in the club's history, winning the Conference North title with a 4–1 win over Boston United, with a game to spare.[2][3] It was manager Gary Lowe's first season in charge after joining from Curzon Ashton in May 2011.[4] This title-win meant that the club would compete in the Conference National for the first time in its history.[2]

Following the end of the season, manager Gary Lowe left the club after failing to agree a new contract along with assistant manager Martyn Booty.[5][6] Within days, the club named former player Scott McNiven as manager and former Bolton Wanderers and Everton player Gavin McCann as his assistant.[7][8] In June the club announced that Callum Byrne, Andy Pearson, Adam Griffin, David Poole, Josh Brizell and Ashley Frith had all signed new contracts.[9][10][11][12] Whilst, Chris Worsley and Shelton Payne left the club for F.C. Halifax Town,[13] and captain Dave Birch and Danny Hall joined F.C. United of Manchester and Altrincham respectively.[14][15] The club also announced the signings of Alex Brown and Phil Jevons, joining from Chester and Morecambe respectively.[10][16][17] The club also had a kit change, the shirt for the season would be manufactured by Jako whereas last season's shirts were manufactured by Pelada. They would also see the away kit change from navy blue with white shorts to a yellow jersey and red shorts.[18] Before the start of pre-season the club signed midfielder Grant Spencer from Ramsbottom United.[19][20] Defender Gianluca Havern also joined Altrincham.[21][22]
