Events

Pre-season

Michael Wylde ends his three-year stay with the club, and joins Cambridge United.

Richard Tait, Michael Wylde, Daniel Bradley and Scott Barrow were all offered terms, whereas Tom Marshall and Kyle Perry were both invited to return for pre-season training. It's also thought that Martin Foyle, Paul Cox and Martin O'Connor were interviewed for the vacant management position.[1] It was announced on 25 May 2011 that Kettering Town boss Marcus Law had become The Lambs new manager.[2] Last season's captain, Tom Marshall, left the club to join Kidderminster Harriers claiming their offer was "too good to turn down".[3] Michael Wylde opts against re-signing for the club and signs a two-year deal with Cambridge United.[4] Aaron Mitchell moves to Eastwood Town.[5] Former Los Angeles Galaxy player Kyle Patterson is confirmed as the club's first signing, joining from Hednesford Town.[6] The club capture the signings of Kieron St Aimie from Kettering Town and Francino Francis from Barwell.[7] Nicky Eaden is named assistant manager and Paul O'Brien is named coach for the new campaign.[8] Eaden, however, had a change of heart and never joined the club.[9] The club's longest serving player, Jake Sheridan and Aaron Farrell were released.[10] Duane Courtney is the first of last season's squad to confirm himself for the new season, signing a two-year deal; he is also joined by Ashley Cain from Mansfield Town and Liam Francis from Hednesford Town. Former Bolehall Swifts and Walsall Wood player Huseyin Torgut is named as the club's new physio.[11] Jason Bradley joins Aaron Mitchell at Eastwood Town.[12] Richard Tait turned down a new deal and asked to leave the club.[13] F.C. Halifax Town's Jonathan Hedge is linked to become the club's new goalkeeper.[14]

Norwich City defender Sam Habergham joins the club.

Danny Thomas has agreed a new one-year deal for the club, with the option of another 12 months. He will also resume his number 11 shirt from last season.[15] Former Norwich City youth player Sam Habergham joined the club.[16] As expected, Jonathan Hedge joined the club along with Rushden & Diamonds' Nabil Shariff.[17] Hinckley United manager Dean Thomas confirmed that Connor Gudger had left the club to join The Lambs.[18] Both Scott Barrow and Daniel Bradley agreed to another one-year deal with the club.[19] Richard Tait commits his future to the club for the forthcoming season.[20] After much speculation, striker Kyle Perry left the club and joined Lincoln City, signing a two-year deal.[21] It is suggested that Ben Wilkinson is to leave the club and join Eastwood Town.[22] It was also confirmed that The Lambs would play local rivals Burton Albion in a friendly instead of away game at Hednesford Town.[23] The club's first pre-season match was a 2–0 away win at Leamington. Trialist and former striker Iyseden Christie scored both the late goals.[24] Next was last season's Midland Combination Premier Division champions, Heather St John's. The game ended 2–2 with Scott Barrow scoring both Tamworth's goals in his first game back.[25] The Lamb Ground played host to the first home friendly against Aldershot Town seeing the return of Alex Rodman. The game finished 1–3 to The Shot with Jay Smith scoring a consolation goal.[26] Neil MacKenzie becomes the latest name to leave the club, signing for St Neots Town.[27] Following successful trials with the club, Iyseden Christie, Ian Roper and last season's captain, Jay Smith, all agreed deals.[28] Law confirmed that Ben Wilkinson, Sebastian Lake-Gaskin and Jervaise Christie will not be returning. Law confirmed that despite signing a contract the previous week, Ian Roper had his contract cancelled as he decided against returning to full-time football. Law also revealed he is hopeful of tying up a loan deal for Peterborough United striker Danny Mills.[29] The club confirm the signing of former Kettering Town midfielder Liam McDonald. Law also spoke with Milton Keynes Dons about the possibility of signing Harry Milton on loan.[30]

August

Nabil Shariff scores his first goal for the club against Bath City.

Wycombe Wanderers academy player Lee Weemes joined the club on a two-year contract.[31] The club complete the signing of three former Football League players in the shape of goalkeeper Joe Collister, and defenders Paul Green and Patrick Kanyuka, who all impressed during trial periods with the club.[32] Peterborough United striker Danny Mills joins the club on loan until 31 December 2011, following successful trial period.[33] The team began their Conference National campaign away at Barrow. The game ended 1–1 with Tamworth's goal coming from a 31st minute penalty converted by Iyseden Christie.[34] The first home game came against newly promoted Ebbsfleet United. Daniel Bradley scored the only goal of the game.[35] Tamworth then secured another three points against Darlington thanks to another penalty converted by Iyseden Christie.[36] Tamworth suffered their first defeat of the season away at leaders Wrexham. The game ended 3–0 to The Red Dragons.[37] Portuguese striker, Evangelino Valentim joins the club following a number of weeks having a trial and gaining match fitness.[38] The club returned to winning ways with a 2–0 win away at Bath City. The goals coming from Danny Thomas and Nabil Shariff.[39] After leading the next game 2–0 thanks to two goals from Kieron St Aimie, The Lambs only managed a 2–2 draw with local rivals AFC Telford United on Bank Holiday Monday.[40] Troy Wallen joined Heather St John's until 31 December 2011.[41] Liam Francis and Rico Taylor both left the club to join Solihull Moors and Stafford Rangers, respectively on month loan deals to gain first team experience. Both Callum Reynolds and Connor Gudger are due to sign a one month loan with Hinckley United. Will Grocott signed a two-year deal for the club is likely to rejoin his former club Loughborough Dynamo on loan.[42] All the loans were confirmed by The Football Association.

September

Tamworth played their first Sunday game of the season away at Hayes & Yeading United. The game ended in a 1–0 loss thanks to a Richard Pacquette goal.[43] The following game saw the return of former managers Gary Mills and Darron Gee with York City. The game finished 2–1 to Tamworth following two converted penalties that came from Chris Smith fouls.[44] Former Mansfield Town midfielder, Curtis Shaw joined the club on non-contract terms from Carlton Town.[45] Scott Barrow received a Wales Under 23 call up for their game in the International Challenge Trophy. Lee Weemes, Luke Shearer and Joe Collister all joined Barwell on a month loan deal.[46]
