The 2010–11 Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team represented Michigan State University in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.[3] Their head coach was Tom Izzo who was in his 16th year at Michigan State. The team played their home games at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, MI, and competed in the Big Ten Conference. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 17–13 overall record, and went 9–9 in conference play. After beating Iowa and Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament, the Spartans fell to Penn State in the semifinals. Michigan State was seeded No. 10 in the Southeast region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, and faced the No. 7 seed UCLA Bruins in the second round. The Spartans trailed by as much as 23 points, only to rally late in the game and lose 76–78.[4]
