The 2009 Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia was the sixth race of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season; it was held on March 29, 2009. Jimmie Johnson, who led forty-two laps, won the race, while Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart finished second and third respectively.

No time trials took place because of rain during the previous days. A live audience of 63,000 people would attend an event that would take three hours and twenty-seven minutes to resolve itself. Last-place finisher Todd Bodine had to quit on lap 3 due to a problem with his engine. Robby Gordon, Joe Nemechek and Dave Blaney also would fail to finish the race. 13% of the race was run under caution; with the average green flag run being approximately 33 laps. Most of the incidents that would bring out the yellow flag were multiple car accidents. Five drivers failed to qualify for the race including Sterling Marlin, Tony Raines and Dennis Setzer.[1]

Often during the race Jeff Gordon would be seen battling Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer for the lead.[3] Gordon would eventually finish in fourth while Hamlin finished in second place and Bower finished behind Gordon in fifth place.
