The 2009–10 season is Tamworth F.C.'s first season back in the Conference National and 5th overall at the fifth tier of English football, the highest tier ever achieved by the club. The club entered the 2009–10 FA Cup in the Fourth Qualifying Round and were eliminated in their first match, a 2–0 loss away to Ilkeston Town.

Events

Pre-season

Craig McAughtrie joins Northern Premier League Premier Division side King's Lynn.[1] Last season's top Striker Gareth Sheldon also joins The Linnets.[2] A week later and Matthew Birley follows in McAughtrie and Sheldons footsteps.[3] Michael Briscoe returns following spells with Halesowen Town and Redditch United.[4]

August

Former West Bromwich Albion youngster Anthony Bruce joins.[5] Former Jamaica international Trevor Benjamin joins following a successful trial period.[6]

September

Simon Russell joins on a month's loan from York City.[7]

October

Both Gavin Hurren and Stuart Nicholson join Conference North side A.F.C. Telford United on a months long.[8] Former Histon player Wayne Looker joins on a free transfer and Peterborough United youngster Samuel Gaughran on loan.[9]

November

Wrexham winger Simon Brown joined the club on a month's loan. The same day saw much-travelled striker Iyseden Christie join on non-contract terms.[10]

December

Nick Wright was placed on the transfer list by boss Gary Mills to "freshen up" the squad.[11]

January

Former Notts County player Jay Smith joins from Eastwood Town.[12]

March

Gateshead signed Gavin Hurren on an initial 28-day emergency loan as cover for the club's injured captain Kris Gate.[13]
