The 2009–10 Liga II is the 70th season of Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season started on August 15, 2009 and will end on June 5, 2010.

1 Gloria Buzău were deducted 8 points after not reaching the 25 points minimum margin in the 2008–09 Liga I season.
2 Cetatea Suceava were excluded from the championship during the winter break, due to the team owing approximately € 1 million in unpaid wages and taxes.[1][2] Their remaining matches were scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
3 Bacău were excluded from the championship, starting from the 33rd round, due to financial problems.[3] Their remaining matches have been scratched and will be credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.

2 CFR Timişoara were excluded from the championship, starting from the 13th round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players and officials.[4] Their record was expunged.
3 Drobeta-Turnu Severin withdrew from the championship during the winter break because their investors retired from financing the club.[5] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
4 Jiul Petroşani were excluded from the championship, starting from the 21st round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players.[6][7] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
