1 Gloria Buzău were deducted 8 points after not reaching the 25 points minimum margin in the 2008–09 Liga I season.
2 Cetatea Suceava were excluded from the championship during the winter break, due to the team owing approximately 1 million in unpaid wages and taxes.[1][2] Their remaining matches were scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
3 Bacău were excluded from the championship, starting from the 33rd round, due to financial problems.[3] Their remaining matches have been scratched and will be credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.

2 CFR Timişoara were excluded from the championship, starting from the 13th round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players and officials.[4] Their record was expunged.
3 Drobeta-Turnu Severin withdrew from the championship during the winter break because their investors retired from financing the club.[5] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
4 Jiul Petroşani were excluded from the championship, starting from the 21st round, due to non-fulfilled payment obligations to their players.[6][7] Their remaining matches have been scratched and were credited as a 3–0 win for their opponents.
