Preliminary round

Eight participating teams were placed in the following two groups. After playing a round-robin, the first place team in each group advanced to the semi-finals, the second and third placed teams advanced to the quarter-finals, and the fourth place team advanced to the 7th place playoff.

As it has been predicted, both Canada and Iroquois went through round-robin with three comfortable wins. Both Ireland and the Czech Republic finish winless, but especially Czechs showed a lot of enthusiasm and had two very narrow defeats against England and Scotland. By contrast, Scotland failed to repeat the fantastic results from 2003.

The final, with a predictable line-up of Canada against Iroquois was one of the most amazing matches in box lacrosse history. Although Canada went through the first period with a 4–2 lead, Iroquois were able to reverse the score in next period. Both teams were heading to final quarter with score 9–10 to Iroquois. Three early Canada goals brought them again in front, but they were quickly answered by another three Iroquois goals. John Grant, Jr. then scored to goals and the victory for Canada was so close. But Dean Hill than scored the equalizer in the final minute of the game to tie it at 14–14. An overtime had to be called for, to decide the championship. Thirty seconds later, Jeff Zywicki claimed his first goal in this match, ending the overtime and making it 15–14 for Canada. It meant that Canadians became the world champions again.
