2006–07 Liga II

Liga II
Season 2006–07

The 2006–07 Liga II was the 67th season of Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. It was the first in the new format (two series of 18 teams each). The season began on 12 August 2006 and lasted until 9 June 2007.

The top two teams from each series were promoted at the end of the season to the Liga I, while the bottom four were relegated to the Liga III.

FRF changed the system into a one with 2 series of 18 teams each, compared to the 3 series of 16 teams used last season, thus coming back to the system that was last used in the 2000–01 season.
