During the 2006–07 Italian football season, Inter Milan competed in Serie A.
Season summary
Inter Milan started the season as clear favourites to retain the Serie A title, especially with Juventus relegated and Milan penalised eight points. None of Inter's rivals really had any chance of matching an improved Inter which had signed the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Patrick Vieira from Juventus, Fabio Grosso from Palermo and Maicon from AS Monaco, in addition to extending the loan of Argentine striker Hernán Crespo from Chelsea.
During the season, Inter broke Roma's previous record of eleven consecutive wins, set in the previous season. An amazing and possibly unrepeatable sequence ended with 17 consecutive matches won. Inter took 46 points from the other 21 matches and finally set a record of the most points accrued during a season, finishing with 97 points.
The club suffered tragedy during the season when president Giacinto Facchetti died of cancer. Owner and ex-president Massimo Moratti was appointed as his replacement.
