Mersin İdmanyurdu (also Mersin İdman Yurdu, Mersin İY, or MİY) Sports Club; located in Mersin, east Mediterranean coast of Turkey in 2002–03. Mersin İdmanyurdu football team has finished 2002–03 season in 12th place in Turkish TFF First League. Mersin idmanyurdu participated in 2002–03 Turkish Cup, and eliminated at first round.

Macit Özcan was club president. Nasır Belci was head coach in the beginning of the season. In the mid-season Yücel İldiz took over the team's management. Savaş Göcen was the most appeared player (34), while top goalscorer was Özgür Nasuh (10).

2002–03 league participation

TFF First League was played as "Turkish Second League - Category A". 18 teams attended. Winners, runners-up and play-off winners promoted to 2003–04 Süper Lig. Bottom three teams relegated to 2003–04 TFF Second League.

2002–03 Turkish Cup participation

2002–03 Turkish Cup was played with 48 teams in one-leg elimination system as "Fortis Turkish Cup". After 3 elimination rounds quarter-finals were played. Trabzonspor won the cup. Mersin İdmanyurdu participated in the cup and eliminated at first elimination round.

Management

Macit Özcan, mayor of Mersin city was president of the club.

Coaching Team

Nasır Belci managed the team at the first half of the season. On 27 January 2003, in the mid-season his contract was terminated. Yücel İldiz signed on 30 January 2003 as new head coach for the rest of the season. İldiz's contract was renewed for the next season on 12 August 2003.

  2. 2.0 2.1 At the end of 2003–04 TFF First League season, Kayseri Erciyesspor finished the season at second place and gained direct promotion to 2004–05 Süper Lig. The club interchanged their name and logo with those of Kayserispor (who finished 6th and could not promote) upon the request of 11th President of Turkey Abdullah Gül, then Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Kayseri.
