The 1st Coastal Division (formerly known as the Brigade of the Chargers)[2] is a Friends of Syria Group vetted Syrian rebel group affiliated with the Free Syrian Army. It received TOW missiles and operates in the Idlib and northern Latakia governorates. The group received training and funding from Qatar. It is a former member of the Ahfad al-Rasul Brigade.[1]
History
The group participated in the Al-Anfal Offensive[1] and the 2015 Jisr al-Shughur offensive.[3] The group launched a large volume of TOW missiles during the 2015 Jisar al-shughur offensive, the skill demonstrated by Osama Abu Hamza in particular won fame after he who succeed in hitting moving targets and tanks behind cover.[4][5]
