The 1999-2000 Miami Heat season is the 12th season of the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] The Heat played their last home game in the Miami Arena and their first home at the American Airlines Arena. The Heat finished first in the Atlantic Division with a 52-30 record. Alonzo Mourning was named Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
In the playoffs, they would sweep the Detroit Pistons in the first round, but would lose seven games to the New York Knicks in the semifinals. This was the fourth consecutive year that the Heat and Knicks faced each other in the postseason.
