The race was held on January 25, 1997 at the 1.000 mi (1.609 km) Walt Disney World Speedway in Bay Lake, Florida. It did not make the scheduled 200 laps; it was called off on lap 149 due to heavy rain.[2]
Failed to qualify/Other entries
Eliseo Salazar for Team Scandia - fractured a vertebra during testing on January 11 and was unable to compete.- Davy Jones for Galles Racing - crashed during Thursday's first practice session and was hospitalized with head injuries.[3] Replaced by Jeff Ward.
