Great Taste Discoverers seasons

The 1978 Great Taste Discoverers season was the 4th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Transactions

The GTD management have recruited rookies Alfonso Jovero, Carlito Travino and Leonardo Aranzaso and signed up Danny Basilan and Bienvenido Alenton from different teams to reinforced its line-up. [1]

Summary

First Conference: Great Taste started the conference with an impressive 4-3 card, tied in third place with U-Tex, with Manny Paner and Johnny Revilla, together with Ritualo and Tolentino, playing very well, but in the second round of eliminations, the Discoverers lost all their games and fell to seventh place overall with a 4-win, 10-loss slate. [2]

Second Conference: The two imports tapped to play for Great Taste were Cisco Oliver and James Collins, despite being an offensive-oriented players, it did not help the Discoverers as they lost 13 of their 14 game assignments, before the conference ended, Nilo Verona would resign as coach, with Team manager Chino Marquinez taking over.
