1961 New Year Honours

The New Year Honours 1961 were appointments by many of the Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries. They were announced on 31 December 1960 in the United Kingdom,^[1][2][3] Australia,^[4] New Zealand,^[5][6][7] Nigeria,^[8] Rhodesia and Nyasaland^[9] to celebrate the year passed and mark the beginning of 1961.

Countries are listed by their date of independence and arranged by the country whose ministers advised The Queen on the appointments. Recipients of honours are displayed as they were styled before their new honour then by honour, degree and where appropriate by division (i.e. Civil and Military). The Order of Precedence is determined by each individual realm.
