The 1957 Professional Matchplay Championship was a snooker tournament held in Jersey. This was the first time the event was held outside of England. After the event the World Championship went on hiatus, and wasn't held again until 1964.[1]
John Pulman won his first world title by defeating Jackie Rea 39–34 in the final.
