1924 Hobart Carnival
The 1924 Hobart Carnival was the fifth edition of the Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. It was the first carnival to be hosted by the Tasmanian city of Hobart and was won by Victoria.
With the weaker footballing states in Queensland and New South Wales being grouped together with the likes of Victoria, there were many one sided affairs. Western Australia managed to kick no less than 43 goals in one match against the Queenslanders, 23 of them from full-forward Bonny Campbell.
In the end the Championship was decided by a match between the two strongest sides, Victoria and Western Australia. The game was played in front of 15,687 people at North Hobart Oval and Campbell again starred with seven goals but it was not enough to get Western Australia over the line. On the back of a seven goal haul from Lloyd Hagger, the Victorians won the encounter by eight points.
