Season 1922–23 was the 46th season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 24th time and the Scottish Cup for the 35th time.
Overview
Dumbarton finished 4th, out of 18, in the Second Division with 42 points - 15 beind champions Queen's Park.[1] In addition, Dumbarton were knocked out in the first round of the Scottish Cup by Dunfermline Athletic.
Locally, Dumbarton retained both the Dumbartonshire Cup and the Dumbartonshire Charity Cup by defeating Dumbarton Harp and Clydebank respectively.
Elsewhere, a friendly match was played against Queen of the South.
Note that Paddy Travers was replaced by Donald Colman as team manager.
