1906–07 Dumbarton F.C. season
Season 1906–07 was the thirtieth season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the eighth time, and the Scottish Qualifying Cup for the fifth time.
Overview
Dumbarton finished in a creditable 4th place in their return to the Second Division with 25 points, 7 behind champions St Bernards.[1] The subsequent promotion 'election' process was unsuccessful as the existing First Division clubs all maintained their 'top flight' status. Unfortunately they failed to qualify for the Scottish Cup, falling at the first hurdle in the Scottish Qualifying Cup losing to Renton.
Locally, the Dumbartonshire Cup was played on a league basis. Vale of Leven and Dumbarton qualified for the final, but it was the 'Vale' that ran out winners afer two replays.
Elsewhere 7 'other' matches were played during the season, of which 6 were won and just 1 lost, scoring 21 goals and conceding 13 in the process.
