Season 1893–94 was the twenty-first season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the fourth time, and the Scottish Cup for the twenty-first time.
Overview
The Scottish League had for the first time been split into two divisions, and in their first season as a professional outfit, Dumbarton finished a creditable 5th in the First Division with 19 points. However in the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton were defeated in the second round by St Bernards.[1]
Locally, Dumbarton retained the Dumbartonshire Cup, defeating Duntocher Harp in the final.
Elsewhere, 17 'other' matches were played, of which 6 were won, 5 drawn and 6 lost, scoring 40 goals and conceding 39 in the process. Of these, two were against English opposition.
