1748 Mauderli (1966 RA) is an outer main-belt asteroid discovered on September 7, 1966 by Paul Wild at the Zimmerwald Observatory. It was given its name by Wild in honor of Sigmund Mauderli (1876–1962), an astronomer at the University of Bern who studied the orbits of minor planets.[1]

It is a member of the Hilda family of asteroids that have a 3:2 orbital resonance with Jupiter, and among the Hilda family it is one of the asteroids with the highest amplitude of libration relative to the stable periodic orbit for this family.[2] It is also the reddest of the D-type asteroids.[3]
