1743 Schmidt (4109 P-L) is a Main-belt asteroid that was discovered on September 24, 1960 at Palomar by C.J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld. It was named after Baltic German optician and astronomer Bernhard Schmidt.[1]
