1617 Alschmitt (1952 FB) is a main belt asteroid discovered on March 20, 1952 by Louis Boyer at Algiers.
Boyer named the asteroid after his colleague, astronomer Alfred Schmitt who, 20 years earlier, had named the asteroid 1215 Boyer in his honor.
